Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has welcomed another baby, bringing his total number of children to twelve. The child was born earlier this year with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, as Musk confirmed to Page Six.
Contrary to rumors, Musk denied that the birth was kept secret, stating, “All our friends and family know. Failure to issue a press release, which would be bizarre, does not mean ‘secret.’” The name and sex of Musk’s youngest child have not been disclosed.
Musk and his partners, including singer Grimes, have emphasized their desire for privacy concerning their children’s lives. In September 2023, Grimes publicly requested privacy for her three children with Musk, following a series of headlines about their co-parenting relationship and the birth of their third child, Techno Mechanicus.
Musk’s first child, Nevada Alexander, was born in 2002 with his first wife, Justine Wilson, but tragically died at ten weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Wilson and Musk later had twins, Vivian Jenna and Griffin, in 2004, followed by triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian in 2006 through IVF.
With Grimes, Musk has three children: X Æ A-Xii, born in May 2020; Exa Dark Sideræl (known as Y), born via surrogate in December 2021; and Techno Mechanicus (Tau), whose birth was revealed in 2023. Musk also welcomed twins Strider and Azure with Zilis in November 2021.
Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding global population decline. He recently reiterated this stance, highlighting that many countries have birth rates well below the replacement level of 2.1 children per woman. He stressed the importance of addressing this trend to avoid potential societal challenges.
Musk’s latest child was initially revealed in a Bloomberg article, which focused on his views on birth rates. Musk’s advocacy for large families aligns with his personal life, as he expressed a desire to have many children and to be actively involved in their upbringing.
Despite ongoing custody issues with Grimes, Musk continues to be seen publicly with his children, such as attending the Super Bowl and various Tesla events. His commitment to family is evident in his efforts to spend quality time with his children amidst his demanding professional responsibilities.
