Samsung is broadening the reach of its One UI Watch 6 beta program to include the Galaxy Watch 5 and 4 series, after initially making it available exclusively for the Watch 6 lineup. This expansion allows users of these older models to experience the latest software enhancements ahead of its official release.
One UI Watch 6 New Features and Improvements
One UI Watch 6 introduces several notable features aimed at enhancing the user experience, particularly in the realm of health tracking and usability:
- Galaxy AI-Powered Sleep Insights: This feature offers a more detailed analysis of sleep patterns, providing users with comprehensive insights into their nighttime activities.
- Pinch Gesture Functionality: Users can now use a pinch gesture to select items on the screen, making navigation more intuitive and less dependent on accessibility mode.
- Enhanced Power Saving Mode: Improvements in power management aim to extend battery life without compromising performance.
- New Control Gestures: Additional gestures provide more ways to interact with the watch, enhancing overall usability.
One UI Watch 6 Availability
Currently, the One UI Watch 6 beta is available in the United States and South Korea. Users with eligible Galaxy Watch 5 and 4 models can join the beta program via the Samsung Members app. Here’s how to get started:
- Open the Samsung Members app.
- Look for the beta program card at the top of the app.
- Tap on the card and select “Join” for your watch model.
- An update will be pushed to your Galaxy Wearable app and subsequently to your Galaxy Watch.
It’s important to note that the beta is limited to Bluetooth models of the Galaxy Watch 5 and 4 series. LTE variants, including some special editions, are currently not eligible for the beta program. The reasons for this restriction have not been specified by Samsung.
SOLVED: Cant get into the One UI Watch 6 Beta
If you can’t access the beta, try restarting both your phone and watch, and clear the cache on the Samsung Members app. Sometimes, there’s a delay in registering your watch’s information, affecting downloads from Samsung Health, Galaxy Manager, and the Beta Software.
Once your phone and watch are connected via Bluetooth, they’ll begin sending diagnostic data to the beta server for registration, which may take a little time.
The timing of this beta release is significant as it precedes the anticipated launch of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 7 Ultra at Samsung Unpacked in Paris. These new models will come with One UI Watch 6 pre-installed, based on Wear OS, showcasing Samsung’s commitment to continually enhancing its wearable technology.
